I've been doing this online thing - trying and make money with my computer since 2006 so you can say that I've been around the block a few times. Many years have been wasted in that time. Most of them were spent hoping for start-up companies to get off the ground and watching them either go nowhere at all or crash-and-burn once they begin to get some momentum.
So my first bit of advice is to never EVER rely on a company to get you somewhere. Your business isn't a particular company or opportunity... but rather your METHOD of how you introduce people to what it is that you are doing. This idea, alone, is a totaly game-changer in the online marketing world.. sad thing is the majority don't know or understand this.
95% or more of the people out there doing internet marketing simply send traffic straight to a company's replicated website. This is the worst thing you can do because if (when) the visitor leaves the page they are gone forever.. never to be seen again.
The goal is the capture as many leads as you can. The reason for this is because once you have their email address, you can follow-up with them and show them other stuff that you are doing. The average person needs to see something 7 times before they take action on it.
I choose to build my business by leading with the traffic. Generating traffic is the one thing that every marketer has in common. In fact, we are all actually in "the lead generation business".
The "lowest-hanging-fruit" in the traffic generation business is what is called the advertising revshare model. This is where a website lets people come in and advertise their own sites and, in turn, they veiw other people's sites. Traditionally this is referred to as a traffic exchange. The difference, here, being that the site will actually pay its members a portion of its profits.
To me, this is the easiest way for people to get started in this industry. Most marketers out there are shooting in the dark and need a reference point of where to begin. If it wasn't for these rev share sites - many still wouldn't be making ANY money on the internet.
I'd recommend for people to always take advantage of the top rev share sites that are out there. I'm not saying that all of these sites will always be around. The idea is to come in small and make use of the referral programs that they offer to you. It is possible to leverave yourself into massive traffic simply by sharing your results and your referral link with others.
Being part of a teambuild make this so much easier, so long as you know that they are helping you to build your team and not just telling you that so that you will join under them.
